DISCIPLINES
Passing through an 18-hole championship golf course, the Dalit Bay Golf & Country Club, the Shangri-La Rasa Ria is defined by its harmonious blend of traditional Sabah heritage and an eco-conscious design philosophy. The resort is planned along the expansive beachfront, with guestrooms positioned to maximize the panoramic ocean view.
ARCHITECTURE
The main building serves as the overall focus of the resort and is designed with traditional Malay architecture influences. Consisting of 2 storeys, the arrival occurs at the upper level. A prominent pitched roof with large overhangs greets the guests upon arrival at the porte cochère while drawing attention to the elaborate arrival lounge cum reception area.
The resort blends into its natural surroundings with earthy tones, natural weaves, and local materials like bamboo. High-ceilinged, open-sided lobbies blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating an unimpeded connection to the lush tropical gardens and the sea. In the guest rooms, intricately carved panels and indigenous-inspired decor – such as the Sarimpak robes woven by local artisans – ground the visitor experience in an authentic sense of place and local culture.
