DISCIPLINES

A refined tropical sanctuary along the serene eastern shoreline of Bintan, the beachfront development reinterprets coastal hospitality through a restrained architectural language that harmonizes with sea, sand, and native vegetation. Guided by the ethos of exclusive minimalist tropical living, the project establishes a continuous dialogue between built form and landscape, offering an immersive retreat rooted in place and climate.

ARCHITECTURE

Set across approximately 5.5 acres, the master plan organizes five hotel blocks along the coastline. An outdoor restaurant, infinity pool, and a sculpted rock spa anchoring the northern edge of the site complement the tropical hospitality for a true sanctuary. The rhythm of ocean waves inspires the architectural expression of the resort, articulated through gently undulating façades and flowing spatial sequences that mirror tidal movement.

An elevated timber boardwalk meanders toward an offshore island, extending a spectacular journey over the water for the guests. On the island, ten overwater villas culminate in five presidential suites, alongside a themed restaurant and chapel—forming a distinctive seaward enclave. Constructed predominantly in timber, the architecture embraces tropical rustic principles: deep roof overhangs, shaded verandas, permeable façades, and naturally ventilated interiors. These strategies ensure climatic responsiveness while cultivating an intimate, nature-oriented experience for up to 250 guests.

LANDSCAPE

The landscape strategy emphasizes the preservation of the site’s coastal character through low-intervention planning and native planting palettes. Soft landscaping and wave-inspired pathways choreograph movement across the resort, while subtle hardscape detailing frames views toward the sea and surrounding greenery.

Outdoor lounges, shaded beachfront paths, and rest areas are carefully positioned to enhance comfort without overwhelming the natural setting. Indigenous species and resilient coastal planting stabilize the terrain while strengthening ecological continuity. Rather than decorative embellishment, the landscape acts as a connective element anchoring the resort within Bintan’s tropical identity and maritime heritage.
