Ampang Park, located at the junction of Jalan Ampang and Jalan Tun Razak, has transformed from Malaysia’s first shopping centre into a dynamic urban green space. Now part of the Ampang Park MRT Station, which began operations in January 2023, it serves as a vital interchange with the Kelana Jaya LRT Line.

LANDSCAPE

The new recreational, commercial and transit functions reinforce its strategic position as a transit node with landscaped open areas, pedestrian walkways, and kiosks offering food and beverages. The space has become a vibrant community hub for leisure activities such as skateboarding and rollerblading, while also offering a calm retreat in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

The design promotes sustainable urban space by blending transit infrastructure with public green spaces, encouraging social interaction and active mobility. Ampang Park’s transformation reflects a forward-thinking approach to urban repurposing, enhancing liveability and inclusivity within the city centre while preserving its historical significance in a modern form.
