High Commission of Malaysia
The High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi occupies a 2-hectare site in the ambassadorial district of India’s capital. Designed to house the expanding needs of Malaysia’s diplomatic mission, the new building comprises offices for various official departments, High Commissioner’s Residence, a multipurpose hall and staff housing.
Colored fritted glass envelope with Malaysian batik motifs adorn various parts of the building to express the Malaysian identity and culture. Each translucent panel has a different motif superimposed upon it to create a captivating effect of shifting patterns in shadow and light. This language of Malaysian Identity is further evoked by the traditional craft decorative motifs to the underside of the overhangs of the façade.
The Malaysian High Commission was completed in December 2015 by design-build contractor DMIA for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
