The renovation of KWSP Kota Kinabalu transformed the interior into a contemporary corporate workspace with modern functionality with elements inspired by the city’s unique identity. Sustainable principles guide the design, with energy-efficient design strategies and system enhancements for an operationally efficient and environmentally responsible workplace.

For this project, VERITAS Contracts delivered quantity surveying and engineering consultancy services providing comprehensive cost, technical, and project oversight throughout the development.

QUANTITY SURVEYING

The scope under quantity surveying service covered full cost management and contract administration for the entire project lifecycle. At the pre-contract stage, preliminary cost estimates were prepared, which helped plan project feasibility, budgeting, procurement strategies and detailed elemental cost plans. This was followed by cost checks throughout design development, value engineering input and financial analysis of design changes. At the tender stage, Bills of Quantities, preliminaries, and pricing documents were prepared, tender queries managed, contractor recommendations and negotiations supported.

Post contract, the team monitored project costs through monthly financial reports and meticulous price control. Completed work was valued regularly, with progress payments recommended, and variations assessed and priced to support cash flow and contractor claims. This ensured effective financial management throughout construction.

ENGINEERING

At the same time, the Engineering Team worked closely with architects, quantity surveyors, contractors, and authorities to manage risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and achieve sustainable outcomes. The scope covered planning, design, coordination, and execution of the project from inception to completion, integrating structural, civil, architectural, geotechnical, and building services. Building Information Modelling (BIM), prefabrication, and green building practices further ensured the project was delivered efficiently, safely, and in accordance with design intent, time constraints, and statutory and budget requirements.
